A large bustling modern city still retaining many medieval buildings despite being heavily bombed in 1943 by the Allies.
It has a modern tram system which crosses east-west and north-south tracks meeting in the city center. There is also a well served airport on the south-west side of the city connected to the motorway network. TGV services connect the city to the rest of the French system ie Paris etc.
Many interesting places to visit here including large parks and gardens, the Isle de Machines with its famous life size mechanical elephant and the Chateau of the Ducs de Bretagne to name just two.
